What We Do

Farm Saison has three main goals: we strive to minimize waste, source at least 75% of our own food from The Greenhouse and The Farm, and provide our customers with healthy, nutritionally sound, real food.  The more we mimic nature and the less we harm nature, the better.  There's some pretty key systems in use at Saison that help us achieve these goals:

The Grey Water System - Rinsing dishes results in quite a bit of nutritious water runoff.  We don't waste valuable H2O.  That water runs through a filtering system and provides subsurface drip irrigation to nourish our growing plants.

Sustainable Cooking - Some cooking methods are better than others in certain circumstances.  That's why we have a wood-burning stove, solar oven, and haybox to cover all the bases of sustainable cooking.

The Indoor & Outdoor Kitchen - Saison utilizes two kitchens in order to conserve and create heat when needed.  The wood burning stove in the indoor kitchen is used when The Greenhouse is below optimal temperature, while the outdoor kitchen is reserved for the Summer Season, when sunshine is abundant and The Greenhouse doesn't need the extra heat.

The Composter - Most dishes served at Saison are chock-full of fruits and vegetables; that means any uneaten scraps make absolutely phenomenal compost.  The trash can doesn't appreciate the compost's glory nearly as much as the plants or the chickens - so we don't put it there.

The Chickens - We already mentioned how these chicks love our compost, but they're also the reason that omelette we served you was the best you ever had.  All of Farm Saison's egg dishes are made from our own chicken eggs.

The Space - Every bit of space matters and every bit of space is different.  We've taken the time to analyze what we have and put plants in areas that they grow best, next to other plants that help them grow, and so on and so forth.

YOU - Who donated the windows for The Greenhouse? Who donates wood? Who works the farm? Who eats all of the delicious food?
